#1- Aquaponic community Project

FUTURE-WORKING-PART

dessin olivier.png

Olivier is specialised in sustainability and Aquaponic system. As he explain me before his role has already evolved; now he is still a researcher but also a speaker. To young generation, teacher, industry, he is transmitting is knowledge to the community and learning them how to integrate aquaponics systems to make them aware of the importance of our environment, on a smaller scale and especially close to them.

It became clear through the development of my project that my role as a designer was to bring these trades together and create new links in this community around water resources. My context takes place in the year 2100, and I explain through the evolution from 2021 to 2050, that humans are becoming aware of the importance of greening their spaces. Moreover Olivier working on aquaonie which is a combination of vegetation and fish farming, the answer was in front of me, How the evolution of the biologist could cross the evolution of the fisher, the farmer and the wall community?

By making aquaponics popular, creating a wider community awareness of the use of its water and plant resources. This in turn creates new rituals of life around water and the biodiversity of the community, leading to the development of the community into a self-sustaining circle of production and consumption, while taking care of the environment

In 2100, the designer works closely with the community and scientists. His role is to understand the functioning of this community while implementing projects in collaboration with it and teams of scientists in order to improve its functioning and its self-sufficiency around water resources. This research is leading to new ways of life and rituals around water and food.

Thanks to the scientist he is developing with a proposition to integrate a new Aquaponic system to permits other people like the farmer or the fisherman to evolve in their job and develop a more conscious relationship with water and their environment. In 2100, people known that vegetalisation is important, between 2030 to 2060, the designer's role was to help the society to learn how to vegetalise their space and the city with the designer, and now his role is to include water connection to this urban vegetalisation and expend it to new ways to consume with other water resources as rain or ocean. While creating and designing links between the different actors of the society it aims to create a more circular and local society, aware of its relationship with water and its biodiversity.

By using ocean water and vegetalising the space to provide food, the aquaponic system allows saving water and work against the pollution issue by absorbing Co2.

The community is taking care of the biodiversity and the biodiversity is looking after the community.

The Biologist works in the community with teams of scientists and designers. They develop and install services such as New Aquaponics services to improve the Basque community around the environment and water resources.
In 2100 Biologist and designer are two roles working with each other. They are creating new relations in the community and more links between people as a farmer, fisherman, and different people's generations.
The Biologist is driving the designer for material and environmental constraint while the designer is creating bridge between the communities and the environments.

The development of all these projects was long and fun. The 3d models become objects of the exhibition, as well as the future roles of the community actors.

#2- With the students

FUTURE-LIVING-PART

At the first stage of the project, I wanted to create little workshop with some student to confront them with the reality of the lack of water resources and develop my project around their work. Thanks to the help of Cécile Cano, who mediated between the other teachers to present my project, we developed and created by co-writing a brief, a subject on water resources in 2100 in the Basque country, for their class of 30 students in applied arts. This partnership around my graduation project with these students was a great experience and an example of how the young generation can get involved and think about their own water use and question our society through the construction of present and future scenarios, the creation of user portraits and the development of concepts in order to create together a better use of the external water resources that we have in the Basque Country; the ocean, the rain or even think about our own body water resources.

Thanks to the student my project was evolving and changing for good day after day.

#3-2100 virtual Exhibition

Capture d’écran 2021-05-09 à 12.48.56.

My project has an educational aim. It aims to question the functioning of our society, to question it and to create debates on our relationship to our environment, more precisely to our relationship to water and our water resources.

I wanted to create an exhibition that could have taken place in a contemporary art centre, or a science centre and ideally a space that could bring these two environments together because the basis of my reflection is to believe in the role of a designer working hand in hand for any project with scientists, biologists in order to create by taking care of our planet.

The health period does not allow us to meet so I decided to create an interactive map where my audience can get lost, navigate in 2100 and discover layer after layer the roles of the different actors of this responsible and conscious community of its relationship with the environment.

Represented as cards, a little experimentation about how could I speak about the experimentation to collaborate with a lot of different people and what do I learned from these experiences.

The experience of this pedagogy became a product by itself.

#6-The Launch of the exhibition

SI03-Final Design Outcome-Email-Axelle J

This is an extract of the pdf Lanch explanation.

The Launch email aims to give my project to my audience and let it lives alone and being questioned by others. I am sending the email to all the person who had to contribute to the project, to my family, friends, and classmates. The email will be sent after the degree deadline, Monday 10th afternoon.
